How to connect to internet via USB modem?
Cellular Modem Installation
1. Obtain a SIM card with a data plan from a compatible ISP
2. Insert the SIM card in the SIM card slot on the side of the modem. If your card is not a Standard SIM size, use a plastic adapter (available free of charge from your cellular provider)
3. Follow the instructions in your dashboard under Help -> Installation to configure your sensor with the following settings:
Connection: Cellular
Modem: E397
APN: <see table below>
Provider | APN |
Telus | isp.telus.com |
Rogers | ltemobile.apn |
Bell | inet.bell.ca or pda.bell.ca |
Freedom | internet.freedommobile.ca |
T-Mobile | fast.t-mobile.com |
1. Plug the modem into any available USB slot on the sensor and reboot. A solid blue light indicates a successful connection.
Troubleshooting:
- Your ISP may use a custom/regional APN. Contact your service provider for up-to-date settings
- Some ISPs require you to register the modem’s IMEI number with them. You can find the IMEI number on the back of the modem
- Some ISPs require a 15-digit IMEI number. To convert the modem’s 14-digit IMEI number to a 15-digit number, go to to www.imei.info/calc
- Try the SIM card in a regular smartphone and verify that it registers on the network and provides a reliable Internet connection
